11 years as Conductor/Music Director,
presently in his eleventh season as Music Director and Conductor of the Amherst Symphony Orchestra, Steve has helped to advance the orchestra and its mission. Most of the musicians who were members during his first season are still with the orchestra and new faces are evident each year, mostly in the string section. A number of his former students from the Amherst and Williamsville high schools and the Fredonia String Camp have become members of the orchestra. In addition to the ASO’s regular season of four concerts, the orchestra now performs a summer outdoor concert, and has a presence in the schools of Western New York educating youngsters, mostly third graders contemplating their choices for instrumental music training that usually begins in the fourth grade. Pre-concert performances, themed concerts, and again this year, a Children’s Concert also reflect the orchestra’s growing mission. |
